Emporio Tower – Hamburg
The office building consists of a reinforced concrete core with a steel frame and curtain wall construction. The facade consists of non openable windows with internal solar shading. Offices were air-conditioned from the perimeter via 3-pipe high-pressure induction units integrated in the building’s parapet, state-of-the-art in the 1960’s.
UIR Union Investment Real Estate plans to refurbish the entire building, adhering to stringent requirements for historically listed buildings, while providing flexible office space with low running costs.
In conjunction with the building’s new energy efficient mechanical systems, sustainable energy savings will be achieved by the new, optically similar, but more efficient facade.
The interdisciplinary team of architects, engineer for HVAC - Systems and energy consultant ifes had developed an energy saving, ecological and sustainable energy concept for the listed high-rise office building with a new façade.
The listed high-rise office building, Emporio Tower, located in Hamburg’s city centre was designed by Architects HPP and built in the 1960’s by Unilever.
