TAS Software
TAS is the industry-leading construction and system simulation program with what challenging climate, energy and facade concepts for holistic planning are successfully carried out.
The “ifes” applied the dynamic simulation program TAS in recent decades in many demanding projects and developed it furthermore.
TAS is a modular dynamic simulation program that investigates the climate, energy and facade concepts. With the help of this software, that we use with great success since decades, we support you in the planning and design of your building and facilities. If you want to know more about TAS or need support or project support, please feel free to contact us. The TAS software is distributed exclusively by the “ifes GmbH” in Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland and Lichtenstein.
If you want to know more about TAS, require support or project support, please contact us. We are actively involved in the development of the software and it can be programmed individually for you, if required, in order to create customized tools. Give us a call, we will find a solution for your needs.
TAS is a modular simulation program
The user-friendly program consists of the following program modules:
- TAS Engineering -Thermal building simulation and plant simulation & daylight simulation
- TAS CFD Ambiens - 2D airflow simulation
With TAS, we can simulate real-world situations, conditions, and variations. The determination of these data provides precise information of the comfort in rooms and operating facilities to be built. The future energy demand can be optimally predicted.
By means of integrated auxiliary options and report generators, you can proof quickly and easily the certification according to DGNB, LEED and BREEAM, supporting the thermal comfort and energy efficiency confirmation. Integrated into TAS is a daylight calculation program to produce alongside with daylight factors and illuminance, precise, realistic visualizations.
TAS meets all technical and normative requirements and was repeatedly validated according to ASHRAE, DIN EN, ISO, VDI, BEEM, EPC and Part L, CIE, etc.
The simulation program is a development of our cooperation partner EDSL - Environmental Design Solutions Ltd. from Milton Keynes in England. More information can be found on www.edsl.net/main.
The questions and the goals of the application of TAS are exemplified below:
What questions can we answer with TAS?
- How to reduce the energy requirements?
- How is the comfort in the rooms?
- What are the indoor air temperatures?
- How to use solar energy?
- What are the operating costs of the building and the facilities in the future?
- Which facade construction is best?
How you can benefit by TAS?
- optimization of your object`s planning
- analysis and optimization of technology and building physics
- detect energy saving potential
- improvement of environmental protection
- development of economical solutions
- savings on time and money
TAS Engineering
TAS is a highly specialized software for thermal building optimization, in order to simulate influences by air movement, solar radiation, heating and cooling on buildings.
With the data provided by the architect, TAS creates easily and quickly physical and geometrically accurate 3D building models. The effects of solar radiation, heat and cold by technical devices or users, regarding the thermal behavior of buildings and rooms, can be analyzed and evaluated in this way.
Ease of use
The building models can be either modeled from sketches or being created in great detail via a CAD interface. Afterwards the model can be represented by its real light and shadow gradients in any 3D view.
For all windows, doors and ventilation openings the relative height and orientation will be calculated automatically. By these data, a network for air flow calculation in the building is created in conjunction with the weather data. The natural air change is calculated automatically when a free ventilation exists. The ventilation openings, such as windows, hatches and doors, can be manually or automatically controlled on demand.
The TAS Building Designer has a CAD interface and a direct export option for MS-Excel. The simulation results, that are represented graphically, allow a subsequent and immediate use for an attractive presentation.
Large databases
TAS includes an extensive database, where parameters of component structures, building materials and glazing are stored. The dynamic and thermal behavior of each construction is automatically calculated on the basis of the existing data. An individual extension of this data pool is easily possible.
The building`s utilization is set via value tables and a calendar function. By this connection, different usage scenarios and day types are defined in a variable table.
Climatic data is additionally needed for a simulation. The TAS Engineering provides access to more than 2,500 weather stations around the world. The climate data consists of hourly parameters of solar radiation, temperature, humidity, wind direction and wind velocity.
TAS CFD Ambiens
TAS Ambiens is an extension module for the TAS Engineering. With the help of TAS Ambiens, a micro-climate and the comfort of a room is analyzed with a 2D air flow simulation.
Using a CFD simulation (Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation), an established method of computational fluid mechanics, the micro-climate of a room can be represented as a 2-D section. Especially good graphical results are achieved with “TAS Ambiens” for the spatial distribution of radiation and air temperature and operative temperature. Also plots of the air velocity, humidity and PPD (Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied) can be generated.

Operational temperature distribution and airflow
Use and benefits of displacement ventilation systems, chilled beams or chilled ceilings can be reviewed easily and quickly with “TAS Ambiens”.
Especially for large atriums any question relating to the sun protection, natural ventilation and cold air drop can be answered. The comfort of rooms and manufacturing facilities can be analyzed and determined before the realization of the actual construction. Through integral planning and by using appropriate simulations, the heating and cooling systems can be optimally dimensioned. Take advantage of our experience in the fluidic assessment of your rooms and air conditioning systems!
